Executive Chef / Specialize in Mexican Cuisine
Born and raised in Michoacan, Mexico, Gerardo began working in restaurants after immigrating to the United States at age 21. His career began in California as a dishwasher and he was quickly promoted to pizza cook.
Gerardo reunited with his childhood friend from Mexico, owner Martin Cardenas, who brought him onto his culinary staff at the Sheraton hotel in Key Largo. When Martin opened Cancun Grill in 1990, Gerardo was immediately promoted to Executive Chef of the restaurant, where he has happily stayed for twenty-four years.
His favorite part of his job is the creativity of combining Mexican cuisines from different regions into the dishes he creates for Cancun Grill and Crazy Fork Catering. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family and playing soccer with his staff, who have become his closest friends.
